New images bulletin

This bulletin targets the General Public. The 3D ocean analyse and forecast is depicted throughout well known parameters.

This new bulletin looks like a control panel. On the left handside the visualization options are proposed, on the right hand side: maps or sections. The default map is the last analysed sea surface temperature map computed by the global Mercator system.

An ocean of maps

Other choices are available through several menus:

Select ocean region: 3 main oceans - Atlantic, Indian, Pacific - are divided into several areas. Arctic and Antarctic ocean are also available with a polar projection.
Select the date of analysis.
If you wish to visualize the forecast, select the date of the forecast between 1 week and 2 weeks.
Select the ocean parameter among 4: temperature, salinity, current, sea surface height.
Select depth among 3: surface, 100 metres and 1000 metres (sea surface height is only a surface parameter)

When the image you want is mapped, you can then choose to visualize the seasonal values corresponding to this period of time (monthly values), or the deviation from these values. Click on "seasonal values" or on "deviation from seasonal values" at the bottom of the map.

Sections

You can also visualize vertical sections of the ocean, from the surface to a 500 meters depth.

Animations

Finally, animations are available and allow you to visualize week after week the evolution of the ocean parameter in your area of interest.
