GODAE network

GODAE vision “A global system of observations, communications, modelling and assimilation, that will deliver regular, comprehensive information on the state of the oceans, in a way that will promote and engender wide utility and availability of this resource for maximum benefit to the community.”

The Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE) will conduct its demonstration phase from 2003 to 2005. From 2003 to 2005, operational and research institutions from Australia, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, France - with MERCATOR -, Norway, Italy, ect...will be performing global oceanic data assimilation and ocean forecast in order to provide regular and comprehensive descriptions of ocean fields such as temperature, salinity and currents at high temporal and spatial resolution. Climate and seasonal forecasting, navy applications, marine safety, fisheries, the offshore industry and management of shelf/coastal areas are among the expected beneficiaries of GODAE. The integrated description of the ocean that GODAE will provide will also be highly beneficial to the research community.
