To achieve its threefold objective set by the GIP member organisations, Mercator Ocean has an original organisational structure.

• The general assembly and the board of administration which set the long term goals
• The project team which designs, develops, qualifies, operates and improves the Mercator Ocean analysis and forecasting system
• The scientific advisory board which suggests lines of research
• The technical committee which gives advice on computing techniques
• The Mercator/Coriolis mission group which supports scientific activities and participates in product validation.
