Take a journey through the Mercator World

Mercator has been providing weekly nowcast and forecast bulletins covering the North and tropical Atlantic up to 20°S since January 17th 2001. These are medium-resolution bulletins (one point computed every 35 km at the equator) giving conditions from the surface right down to the bottom. The first high-resolution bulletin (one point computed every 5 to 7 km) was published on January 8th 2002. It covered the North Atlantic between 9°N and 70°N and the whole of the Mediterranean Sea. 2004 will be the year of Mercator's global high-resolution model.

This is the result of studies on a number of ocean variables which offer an integrated view of the ocean and bring information to users (fishermen, sailors, military users, scientists, etc.)
